Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Quaid Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has declined to accept the resignation of PML-N MNA Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and asked him to continue to work in the larger interest of PML-N as well as the country. Sources in the PML-N told Business Recorder that Nawaz Sharif has asked Sardar Mehtab Abbasi to continue to play his due role in the interest of the country.
It may be noted that Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, after having decided to resign from his National Assembly seat in the wake of situation arising out after renaming of NWFP as "Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa", sent his resignation to his party leader. A letter attached with the resignation of Sardar Mehtab Abbasi said, "I was elected on PML-N ticket; accordingly, I am sending my resignation to the PML-N Quaid." It may also be recalled that Sardar Mehtab Abbasi demurred at change of the NWFP's name and also, he did not vote in the National Assembly in favour of "Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa."
Earlier, Nawaz Sharif while talking to reporters in Lahore said, "Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbasi decided to resign in utter disappointment." Commenting on Hazara situation, Nawaz said that politicians and those at the helm of affairs should resolve the issue of people of Hazara division as per public aspirations.
The PML-N Quaid said those having vested interest added fuel in the fire in Hazara. He said the PML-N conceded to the demand of Awami National Party (ANP) in the larger national interest. "If my politics is put at stake, I do not mind; but, the country should remain intact," he said. He also said the Parliament accorded approval for renaming NWFP as "Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa" for the stability of democracy.
Answering a question, Nawaz said that National Assembly would decide about bringing 19th Constitutional Amendment for making Hazara as a province. He said he tried his best to control the situation in Hazara but some opportunists aggravated the situation.
