Volcanic ash: PIA taskforce to recover flight cancellation losses

PIA has formed a taskforce supervised by MD PIA Captain Aijaz Haroon which includes DMD Salim Sayani and senior most operational officers to meet the challenge arising out of 32 PIA flight cancellations since last Thursday, owing to persistent volcanic ash and closure of airspace for Europe and UK, PIA spokesman said on Saturday.
The taskforce consists of experienced officers from the airline's Passenger Handling, Engineering, Flight Operation, Marketing & Revenue Management, All Station Managers, Security, Planning, Call Centre and Emergency Response Centre.
The focus of the PIA task force would be to recover the revenue loss by working extra sections as soon as Europe and UK air spaces are available for aircraft movement and major airports open their operations.
Presently, the task force is ensuring maximum passenger care during transit and providing regular updated information about the cancellations and possibilities of flight resumption. Call centre is sending text messages and responding phone inquiries 24 hours, PIA spokesman said.-PR
