Law Minister Punjab Rana Sanaullah Khan has said the Punjab government will provide all required funds for the construction of 300 bed emergency ward in Allied Hospital. He was addressing the 7th convocation of Punjab Medical College (PMC) here on Saturday. The Punjab government would also make sure the availability of financial resources for the establishment of 300 rooms girls hostel for students of PMC, he said.
He said that required amount would also be given to Allied Hospital for the upgradation of its radiotherapy ward. The minister said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif had given top priority to the health and education sectors and a sizeable amount was being utilised for this purpose. He further said that the government had not only increased the health budget but also with efficient and transparent management provided free medicines to people in all public hospitals of the province.
Moreover, he said that almost all government hospitals of the province were now fully air-conditioned to provide better environment to the patients during their ailment. Furthermore, he said that new cardiac hospitals were being established in the major cities of Punjab besides equipping the existing ones with medical equipment and machinery.
He told that the Punjab government had regularised the services of all medical officers, specialists, senior registrars and medical teachers so that the medical community, which was the backbone of the health sector could perform their duties whole heatedly and with full devotion and dedication. He also congratulated the graduating doctors especially those who acquired positions.
At the end, the minister distributed medals and awards among the position holder medical students. Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences, Dr Malik Hussain Mubashar and Principal PMC Professor Riaz Hussain Dab also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance and potential of young doctors in the field of medicine.
Principal PMC gave a briefing about the achievements of the students of college in curricular and extra curricular activities and also put forward the problems and issues faced by the administration. He also appreciated the services rendered by Punjab government for the uplift of health sector. MNA Haji Akram Ansari, MPAs Major Abdul Rehman, Zafar Nagra, Rao Kashif Rahim, Khawaja Islam, Afshan Farooq, Dr Ghazala Rana, Anjum Safdar and others were also present on the occasion.
