West Indian fast bowler Tino Best has signed for Yorkshire until the end of May but his debut could be delayed due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland, the English county cricket club said on Saturday. Best, who has taken 28 test and 13 one day international wickets, is set to play in the county championship match against Kent starting on Wednesday but is currently unable to fly to Britain.
The 28-year-old played for Yorkshire against Lancashire on the club's pre-season tour of Barbados and impressed with figures of 1-12 from 14 overs. "I'm looking forward to seeing his bowling cause problems for our opponents and I'm sure he will be a real asset to the Yorkshire side," director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon said on the club's website.
