In partnership with Rising Sun Institute, Coca-Cola is initiating a teachers training programme in Lahore. The teachers, belonging to IDP areas, will be trained to teach special children currently studying in government operated schools. Rising Sun Institute is amongst the first organisation that has taken this initiative after the government passed a rule for 'inclusive education', by which all schools will have special children enrolled in them by year 2025.
Rising Sun Institute is a not-for-profit organisation founded by Dr Rao Abdul Tawwab along with his wife Parveen Tawwab in 1984. Rising Sun works for the welfare of the special children in Pakistan. It endeavours to provide education and training facilities for the physically and mentally impaired special children.
The training facilities include child assessment, physiotherapy, vocational and recreational training and much more. It is an organisation, which attempts to eradicate the stigma of these special children and incorporating them back into the society so that they have equal opportunities.
While inaugurating the event, Coca-Cola Country Manager, Rizwan U Khan said, "Supporting the cause of education for the special children, is one the important pillars of our overall CSR strategy. We, at Coca-Cola firmly believe in indiscrimination on any grounds and aim to help these individuals for a better future".-PR
