The Lahore High Court has issued notice to Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and called for report within a fortnight in a petition filed by one Amir Manzoor against a chartered accountancy firm for not paying full payment in accordance with the work carried out by him.
The petitioner contended that he was working as an accountancy trainee in M Younsaf Adil Saleem & company. When he demanded compensation for overtime that he was entitled to under the ICAP regulations, the firm refused to pay the same. Moreover, his training contract was terminated on vague allegations of misconduct. The petitioner approached ICAP, which dismissed his appeal, filed against the exploitation of the firm. The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, issued notices to the respondent and called for a report within fortnight.
