Pakistan is among the countries having adverse effects of climate change and is trying its level best to find practicable solutions to environment related issues. This was stated by Federal Minister for Environment Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi while talking to Korean Ambassador, Un Shin, who called on him here on Monday.
The minister was of the view that environment related problems have no boundaries, therefore coping with the issues is not only the responsibility of one country but co-ordinated global efforts are needed to put the house in order. During the meeting matters of mutual interest, especially related to environment came under discussion.
The Korean ambassador said that mutual relations between the two countries should be further cemented as Seoul was playing an important role in Pakistan's development in the manner thousands of Pakistani's played their due role in Korea's economic growth. He said that Korea has no dearth of skilled manpower especially in information technology (IT), construction and environment sectors.
He informed the minister that climate change weakens infrastructure denting over-all economic growth of the country hence there is dire need to take up these issues on priority basis. Afridi said that Pakistan desires technical assistance and human resource development facilities from Korea. Korean Ambassador presented a brochure about "Korea's Green Growth Strategy".
