Provincial Minister for Labour, Ashraf Khan Sohna has said that a project of enrolment of labours' children in high standard government and private schools has been launched in 19 districts of the province under which Punjab Workers Welfare (PWWB) will bear all the educational expenditures including provision of books, transport and fees.
He said this while presiding over a meeting at Civil Secretariat on Tuesday. The Minister said that all out resources are being utilised for providing free of cost educational facilities to the children of labourers. He said that in such districts where schools of Punjab Workers Welfare Board (WWB) have not yet been established there these children would be enrolled in private and government schools and government will bear all the expenses.
He directed district officers (Labour) to contact with registered workers in their respective districts and get their children enrolled in schools. He further directed them to sign an agreement with prestigious private schools for provision of books, transport, uniform and stationary to these children and government will pay the expenses to the schools for these facilities.
He said that stipend of Rs 800 to primary level, Rs 1000 to middle level and Rs 1200 matriculation level would be given by the government besides other facilities to the children of registered workers of Okara, Nankana, Jhang, Attock, Sahiwal and Hafizabad. Director Punjab Education Welfare Board, DG Labour Welfare and District Officers (Labour) were also present on the occasion.
