To avoid mistake made by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) before commencement of annual examination 2010-11, the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) provided a last chance to the students for submitting the enrolment, registration and examination forms to ensure participation of willing candidates for appearance in the final test.
Like the students of science group, the board has decided to provide last chance to the candidates of arts and commerce group to submit their forms in between May 3 to May 5, 2010. The last day of forms submission opportunity provided by the BSEK management before the annual examination. Therefore, a large number of students gathered inside the premises of the board to avail the final chance.
As the board management felt the burden on specified counters, for this purpose, they have opened additional counters to complete the work in a single day, a brief visit of BIEK before annual examination 2010-11 revealed on Tuesday. The board paced up the process of the issuance of admit cards to the students, who could received the permission form for appearance in the final test. The board has made special arrangements to facilitate the students for availing the last chance.
Although, the board had refused involvement of private agents for minting money from the students to submit their form at the eleventh hour, many known faces were seen engaged in their job even in the last day. To avoid difficulty and the wastage of time, many students handed their responsibility to these agents.
The board had restored the affiliation of 15 colleges and higher secondary schools and expressed hope that the issue of the last college would be resolved before the beginning of the annual examination. The board cancelled their affiliations due to their failure to renew their registration from Directorate Private Institutions Sindh.
The educational institutions whom affiliations were suspended are: Allama Iqbal Intermediate Girls College Steel Town, Bin Qasim, E Complex College of Arts and Science, Phase-I, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Bin Qasim Town, Fatimid College (Boys Campus), Fatimid College (Girls Campus), TCF Higher Secondary School, Liaquat College of Management Science, Pakistan Steel Madr-e-Millat Girls Degree College Steel Town, Pakistan Steel Shah Latif Boys College, Mariam Higher Secondary School, Dewa Higher Secondary School, Alimia Institute of Islamic Studies Intermediate Arts College, Ida Rieu Higher Secondary School for the Blind and Deaf, College of Emerging Technologies, University College, Memon Commerce College (Evening) and Gulshan College of Information Technology.

"Taking advantage of the situation, approximately 2,000 students have submitted their examination forms, the deputy secretary said, adding that the board accepted forms from every candidate, but the annual result of those candidates, who could not fulfil board formalities would be withheld till completion."
The board has devise a strategy to hand over admit cards to the students, who have submitted their examination forms at the eleventh hour, he said. Board may also provide such relaxation to the candidates of arts and commerce group to submit their forms in between May 3 to May 5, 2010, he added.
