The profit after tax of National Refinery Limited (NRL) has increased to Rs 1,966.891 million in the nine months period ended March 31, 2010 as compared to Rs 853.618 million earned in the corresponding period last year.
The meeting of the board of directors of the company held on Tuesday and declared that the company's earning per share has surged to Rs 24.60 in the period under review against Rs 10.67 in the same period a year back.
On quarterly basis, however the company profit after tax has declined to Rs 813.166 million translating per share earning of Rs 10.17 in the quarter ended March 31, 2010 against Rs 1,646.918 million with per share earning of Rs 20.60 recorded in the same quarter last year.
According to the financial results, sent to Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), the company's gross sales declined to Rs 92.967 billion in the nine month period this year against Rs 109.795 billion in the same period previous year. The company paid Rs 18.111 billion in account of trade discounts, taxes, duties and levies in this period against Rs 22.355 billion paid in the same account in the same period last year.
The company's cost of products sold declined to Rs 71.265 billion in the nine months period this year against Rs 83.279 billion in the same period a year back. The profit before tax of NRL increased to Rs 3.110 billion in this period against Rs 1.750 billion in the same period last year.
