In a rare move Defence Housing Authority officially renamed the B-6 street in DHA Phase-V as Roshan Khan B-6 street to honour the squash legend and national hero of the yester years. The renaming of street formality was performed by the Administrator DHA Brigadier Khalid Tirmizi in a simple and impressive ceremony held at the street venue where the former king of Squash Jehangir Khan, the son of legendary Roshan Khan lives.
Speaking on the occasion Brigadier Tirmizi said that DHA as a progressive and forward looking housing authority believed in promotion of education, sports and. other social activities for the betterment and welfare of society as its corporate responsibility. He said this was the galvanising spirit behind DHA's decision to pay tribute to the living squash legend. He said that the contributions of Roshan Khan to the game of squash at national and international level were a significant part of our history.
Earlier Jehangir Khan, the ten times former champion of British Squash Tournament thanked DHA for its thoughtful gesture and said that the event was beyond symbolic significance and would go a long way in promotion of squash in qualitative and quantitative terms in the country. He said that this gesture of DHA would be instrumental in giving a new motivation and a renewed inspiration to the youngsters to exert and work hard for bringing further laurels to the country.-PR
