A man burnt alive when a huge fire broke out at Aabpara police station on Wednesday, causing huge damage to the building as well. The right side of the building engulfed in fire due to wielding sparks, as maintenance work was going in a room. The wielder succumbed to his injuries in the nearby hospital.
As many as 12 persons, including policemen and detainees in the police station were shifted to safer places, police sources said. Soon after the incident a huge cloud of black smoke was seen coming out of the building as vehicles of fire brigade and ambulances rushed towards the scene.
CDA fire brigade extinguished the fire in almost two hours. A large number of police officials encircled the building after the fire broke out and rescued the people present there. Talking to the media, Deputy Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bin Yamen said that the fire broke out due to sparking of a wielding in a room of the police station. However, he said that investigation is underway. He said that all records and ammunition is safe and dumped in the basement of building after the fire. He appreciated the CDA fire brigade's timely rescue.
