Provincial Secretary Education Siddique Memon has said that Provincial Education Department has planned to re-open all 5,500 closed schools by July 1, 2010. He said while presiding over a high level meeting of officers of education department.
Special Secretary Education, Waseem Ursani, EDOs of ex-Hyderabad and ex-Mirpurkhas Divisions and education managers of Nation Commission for Human Development (NCHD) were present in the meeting held at Shahbaz Hall, Shahbaz Building Hyderabad.
He said that arrangements to provide teaching staff at each school have been made and the recruitment of 7,000 teachers have been started from last 15th April, 2010 and such process was in progress. He said that appointment orders of teachers have been issued in 13 districts while same orders in 7 districts would be issued within few weeks time.
About the fate of 1500 nonviable schools, he said that public objections in this regard would be invited and the school buildings, which were disowned by public or unfeasible, would be handed over to other interested organisations. He said that rationalisation of primary school plan has also been prepared which would be implemented with the consultation of the finance department.
Memon said that the quality of education was also being improved through different schemes including increasing capacity building of teaching staff through training programmes here and abroad, making monitoring system more effective, recruiting teachers on merit and providing incentives to both teachers and students in the government schools.
He said that it was the first time that Annual Sports schedule, containing Inter-School, Inter-Taluka, Inter-District and Provincial Sports events have been issued, besides extra-curriculum and curricular activities have also been scheduled to bring improvement in the teaching and training process. He directed the officers to follow the government policy strictly and maintain discipline within their institutions. He said that performance of each EDO would be monitored and would be rated with the quality of education within his/her district.
