Former cricketer Wasim Akram has filed an application in a local civil court to obtain "succession certificate" to use moveable assets of his deceased wife, Huma Wasim. The cricketer also filed a "declaration suit" to get his wife's immovable assets transferred to him being sole legal heir and natural guardian of her two children.
Wasim through his counsel submitted that his wife had died on October 25, 2009 leaving behind two minor sons namely Taimoor and Akbar. He said his wife had been running different bank accounts where Rs 0.715 million in cash and Rs 0.195 million was deposited in shape of "term deposit placement" certificates. Moreover, 40,026 dollar was deposited in a foreign currency account of his wife, Wasim added.
He therefore, prayed to the court to issue him a succession certificate so that he could withdraw the said moveable assets. In declaration suit, the plaintiff-cricketer pleaded that his deceased wife had owned a plot in DHA Lahore, measuring one kanal. He requested the court to allow him to get the said plot transferred to his name.
