Pakistan Muslim League-Q senior leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Saturday said Punjab government has failed in providing protection to the minorities. He was talking to delegations of Muttahida Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan and Minorities Wing on Saturday.
The delegation members comprised of Allama Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Haji Ibrar Alam, Amir Wasim Sindhu, Syed Hassan Ahmed, Bishop Ibraham, Azzem Daniel, Father Tahir and others. Talking to the delegation members, he said the present government had given nothing to the people except load shedding, escalating price hike and unemployment.
The poor farmers are also getting manifold problems, as they are facing difficulties in selling their produce, he added. He recalled that his party's government formed separate ministry for minorities, got returned minorities educational institutions to them and also provided proprietary rights to the minorities.
Meanwhile, PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi, during a meeting with the office bearers of party's labour wing Saturday termed Chief Minster Punjab's latest announcement regarding the launch of 'langar' scheme in Punjab as yet another hoax meant to extort public funds. "After the failure of tandoor 'scam', if Chief Minister Punjab thinks that his upcoming langar hoax will save N-League's sinking boat, he is mistaken.
Punjab is not a province of charity seekers and the proud people of the province demand their constitutional right to better life instead of being humiliated through N-League's sham roti, atta and langar schemes." If poor people can successfully run langars (public kitchens) at data sahib's shrine in Lahore and similar other holy places in Punjab with their scant resources, why cannot the N-League leadership with its huge financial assets follow the suit, he questioned.
Moonis Elahi was of the view that langar scheme was going to be another fraud with the people and like in the earlier tandoor scam, where 30 billions of rupees of public money had disappeared, the upcoming langar hoax was also gobble further billions.
"If Chief Minister Punjab had an iota of genuine concern for the poor of the province, he would have dumped his huge army of useless advisors who are getting fatter day by day on public money." He blamed N-League's Punjab government for squandering massive public funds for cheap political gimmicks and huge personal gains at the expense of the innocent and proud citizens.
He blamed N-League for reducing Punjab from the breadbasket of the country to a food deficient region and for insulting the pride of its people by forcing them to stand in long queues for flour, sugar and other necessary food items. This time, the people of Punjab will not be deceived and if any attempt is made to misappropriate public funds for political gimmickry, they will confront the rulers, he concluded.
