The criminals are spreading their tentacles to the cellular telephony and internet by using different tactics, virus and coded messages to transfer credits (Balance), fake and fraudulent marketing. Mobile phone users in country's thriving telecom industry are becoming increasingly jittery as they are being deprived of daily amounts out of their mobile phone budget.
Recently police unearthed a gang who sent message, " Shazia love...." to hundreds of people and whoever opened this message or replied to this coded message, lost a balance of Rs 30 without knowing. The gang has been busted two weeks ago, but it was not lone out in crime. The high-tech criminals send short text messages randomly to hundreds of users suggesting some lucrative business deals or romantic proposals.
The message includes the coded formula that automatically transfer credits from the receiver or subject to the cheat (message sender). The impostors often use pseudo female names in a bid to encourage majority male users to act upon the coded stimulas.
Once a call is made or a text message (SMS) is sent, forty or fifty rupees are instantly deducted from the account of the subject, an expert informed. Public circles have shown their grave concern on the issue and requested relevant authorities for a swift action to stop this cheating. A couple of cellular users have complained that after "Shazia loves u" now some Rehana is luring the young men. Usually the coded messages sent through "V CARD" are like," *100-923058123536*27 The cellular users are advised not to respond to such messages and delete the same immediately.
