Baloch asks government not to impose VAT

Secretary General Jamaat-i-Islami, Liaquat Baloch has asked the federal government not to impose Value Added Tax (VAT). Talking to a delegation at Mansoora on Monday he said the next budget would not bring any relief to the masses as the government would have to prepare the budget under the terms dictated by the IMF.
He said the price hike had already crushed the poor masses. Thousands of industrial units had been closed down rendering their workers jobless. He also condemned the 125 percent raise in the property tax and described it an anti-people step. He stressed upon the government to review this decision.
