Nisar slams government for re-promulgating Ordinances in violation of Constitution
Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday said the government is violating Constitution by re-promulgating ordinances and PML-N would be left with no option but to approach the Supreme Court if it did not stop this practice.
Taking part in the debate over President Asif Ali Zaradri's address to the joint session of the Parliament, Nisar said the government is re-promulgating ordinances time and again which is violation of the 18th Amendment. The opposition leader urged the government to implement 18th Amendment in letter and sprit to bring change in the country.
About Core Committee of the PPP, Nisar said that the President called the meeting of Core Committee before the Cabinet meeting. There is no concept of Core Committee in any democratic country. "If the government is being run through this Committee then the 18th Amendment and Opposition would not bring any change in the performance of the government," he said. "The Prime Minister should not depend on other force but take the Parliament into confidence," he said.
He said that any institution could not succeed by resorting to confrontation with the judiciary. The government has decided to confront the Supreme Court. The Law Ministry is creating hurdles in the way of judiciary for last four months. He said Law Minister agreed with the statement of Attorney General of Switzerland but he did not respect the decision of Supreme Court.
He said the national language of the country is Urdu but the President addressed the Parliament in English, which is deplorable. He said next time it should not be repeated. Opposition Leader said that the President released more than five thousand criminals from jails just to pardon Ahmed Riaz Sheikh. He accused Law Ministry of protecting corrupt people like Hamish Khan.
Nisar criticised the government for suspending the questions hour session and other business of the House just for discussing the Presidential address to joint sitting of the parliament. He said that the PML-N would not participate in the proceeding if the question hour session is suspended during the next sitting.
