A senior officer of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), Islamabad was deprived of his personal car, parked in the PM&DC premises more than a month ago but police are yet to trace out the culprits. Expressing concerns on the cold attitude of Shalimar area police, political, social and official circles have demanded that special team should be constituted to catch the culprits and recover the personal car of the officer.
On April 8, 2010, Assistant Registrar of PM&DC Dr Jahangir Khan parked his car no. Swat B-4255, Chassis no. EE 90-0181686 in the official parking lot situated opposite to the main gate of the main premises of the PM&DC and came to his office for routine duty.
At 2:15pm the same day, when the officer came out of his office, he found his car missing which was stolen by some unidentified culprits. The officer reported the incident to Shalimar Police station where ASI Abdul Qadir registered a FIR against unknown culprits. Dr Jahangir is residing at Doctors Hostel room no. 12 situated at Melody Chowk, Islamabad from where he joins his duty daily.
Even after a lapse of 33 days, police could not trace out the culprits and recover the car of such a responsible government officer. The officer has informed all the relevant officers about the incident but till now, no action has been taken. Dr Jahangir is an honest and hardworking officer of the PM&DC and lives with moderate standard.
He had only one car as his personal asset, which he would use for pick-and-drop to the office. It is very sordid and a stigma on the face of the law-enforcement agencies especially the Shalimar Police Station that on broad daylight, a vehicle is stolen from such a sensitive area where so many other official vehicles are also parked.
The political, social and official circles have expressed concerns over the issue and demanded of the higher authorities to enhance their efforts for the recovery of the said vehicle. They have also appealed to the general masses that if any one has information regarding the vehicle, the doctor concerned or the ASI Shalimar Police Station be informed on cell numbers 03335444766 and 03005594376 respectively.
