School Education Department: development schemes worth Rs 14 billion completed
Provincial Education Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that 5300 development schemes of worth Rs 14 billion of the School Education Department Punjab were speedily completed as compared to the schemes of other departments. He said that the projects would help create a favourable environment for students of government schools.
He was talking to a delegation of teachers here on Wednesday. The Minister said that the government is taking effective steps to provide educational facilities under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. He said that Rs 10.5 billion out of Rs 12 billion funds released for districts have been spent on development projects in education sector. He said that Rs 7 billion are being spent on 2800 schemes and upgrading of 835 schools has started.
The Minister said that 1665 schemes of boundary walls construction, building of new rooms and supply of water and electricity in schools will be completed on time. He said that the government is providing free educational facilities in schools. He said that a school councils system has been introduced to enable local population to play an important role in the promotion of education, adding that better results could be achieved in education sector through public-private partnership.
