Government should either scrap off National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) or hand over its administration to the business fraternity, said President, India - Pakistan Chamber of Commerce (IPCC) S. M. Munir in a meeting of Citizens Social Forum on Wednesday.
On the grave issue of power crises, he emphasised government to take steps on war footing to resolve it. Munir said that frequent power outages has created serious problems for industrialists in keeping their units operational and also in meeting production targets.
Referring to Afghan Transit Trade (ATT), he said that goods imported under ATT fail to reach its destiny and huge quantity of goods find its way in local markets. Furthermore he said that the local industry is suffering heavy losses due to misuse of ATT, adding that the government is also loosing out on handsome revenue.
