The general body meeting of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) Thursday passed a unanimous resolution, renaming the trade body as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KPCCI), Peshawar. The meeting was held with President Riaz Arshad in the chair.
The executive committee of the chamber in its meeting held on April 16, had already approved the renaming. In light of the said decision of the executive committee, a meeting of the general body was convened. According to Section 27 of the memorandum and articles, one fourth of the total members attended the meeting. 427 members of the chamber upheld the decision of the executive committee and unanimously passed resolution for renaming the chamber as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Speaking on the occasion, president of the chamber thanked members of the chamber for the unanimous renaming.
He said that after the renaming of the province as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, renaming of the chamber after the new name will help promote economy of the province and would increase the importance and prestige of the chamber. Those who attended included vice president, Zulfikar Ali Khan, Faiz Mohammad Faizi, former presidents, Ghulam Sarwar Khan Mohmand, Ghazanfar Bilour, Sufi Bashir Ahmad Durrani, Adeel Rauf, Sharafat Ali Mubarak, members of the executive committee and a large number of industrialists and traders.
