The Lahore High Court (LHC) has imposed a fine of rupees five thousand on counsel of petitioner of PML-N MNA Mudassar Qayum Nahra in a case against qualification for wasting time of the court. As the proceedings were started on Thursday the court asked the counsel Kamran Sheikh to get adjournment for some other day due to shortage of time, however, the counsel insisted to advance arguments.
After hearing his half hour long arguments the court asked him to provide copies of case law in support of his arguments but the counsel said he had not brought the copies and books of the case law. This casual attitude of the counsel irked the court, which, therefore, imposed fine on him for wasting the court time and directed him to come up with complete arguments on May 17.
Kamran Sheikh was representing Chaudhry Bilal Ijaz of PML-Q, who challenged BA degree of Nahra, an elected MNA from NA 100, Gujranwala. He prayed to the court to declare the respondent disqualified while invoking provisions of Article 62 and 63 of the constitution.
