UAE and Pakistan enjoyed extremely close and fraternal relations based on common faith, traditions, deep-rooted cultural affinities, geographic proximity and identity of interests. This was stated by Dr Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly during her meeting with Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Speaker of the House of the Federal National Council, in Dubai, says a press release received here on Monday.
Dr Fehmida who was accompanied by her husband Zulfiqar Mirza, Sindh Minister for Interior and Khusheed Junejo, Ambassador of Pakistan in UAE, exchanged views on variety of issues predominantly related to the parliamentary system in the two countries.
She apprised the UAE Speaker that the government believes on consensus of opinion and is taking everyone along, which is evident from the fact that this is the only government, which has the support of all other political parties who are either part of the government at federal or provincial level.
She said that exchange of parliamentary delegations and close co-operation between the two countries in different fields would not only strengthen the bilateral relations, but would further bring the people of the two countries closer to each other. Dr Fehmida thanked UAE government for the hospitality and support, which they had extended to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto during the time she stayed in UAE.
Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair said that UAE and Pakistan enjoy very close brotherly relations and both the countries committed to a renaissance of Islamic values. He said the current leadership of the two countries has unanimity of views on all regional and international issues.
He said that UAE government recently introduced new amendments in its constitution, which give more powers to the parliament. Applauding the unanimous passing of the 18th amendment in Pakistan, he termed it as an historic occasion for the people of country and a step towards true democracy. Dr Fehmida invited him to pay a visit of Pakistan.-PR
