Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) Chief Executive Officer, Shahid Rashid Monday assured the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Agriculture that the authority would continue its support to develop the agriculture and livestock sector in the country. He was addressing a 16-member delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Agriculture, here on Monday.
CEO Smeda stressed the need for conducting more study visits of the sort to promote inter-provincial harmony and goodwill among the provinces. The Smeda had arranged the four-day study visit of the Punjab province so as enable the delegation members observe the best practices being exercised in the agriculture and livestock sectors of the province.
During its tour, the team visited prominent institutions of both the private and public sectors working for the development of agriculture, dairy and livestock sectors including Agriculture University, Faisalabad, Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), Livestock Production Research Institute (LPRI), Haleeb Milk Plant, Kasur and Agriculture House, Lahore. A presentation, regarding Smeda's role for development of agriculture, dairy and livestock sector was also arranged on this occasion.
The delegation members expressed their gratitude to Smeda for arranging the visit of the farmers' community and acknowledged that the visit had helped increase awareness on the best practices implemented in Punjab in agriculture, livestock and dairy sectors. Later, CEO Smeda Shahid Rashid distributed certificates among the delegates.
