A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) met President Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House here on Tuesday and discussed matters relating to development in the province and implementations of decisions of the Core Committee. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Interior Minister Rehman Malik were also present on the occasion.
MQM delegation included federal ministers Dr Farooq Sattar and Babar Khan Ghauri, provincial ministers Raza Haroon, Adil Siddiqui, Waseem Aftab, while Senior Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, LG Minister Agha Siraj Durrani, Katchi Abadis Minister Rafiq Engineer, Irrigation Minister Murad Ali Shah, Information Advisor Jamil Soomro and president PPP Karachi Division Najmi Alam also attended the meeting.
Talking to media after the meeting, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistani Dr Farooq Sattar said that both the sides have resolved to continue to work together for strengthening the democracy and for the country's stability. "We have also decided to further improve co-ordination to resolve the problems facing people including load shedding, price hike, unemployment and poverty. He said that it was decided that MQM will be a part of all decision making.
Sattar said it was also decided to expedite the progress of the economy and foster social development to serve the people by implementing development schemes. Dr Sattar said President Asif Ali Zardari assured his full co-operation and support in this regard. He said the delegation also discussed the issue of Hyderabad and legislation of local bodies law and President Zardari has directed us to expedite the work on this law. He has also accepted our request for giving his input on this law.
The Senior Minister said that the election of President, Prime Minister or Senate elections, all were conducted with mutual consultation and discouraged horse trading. We are following the policy of reconciliation of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto who believed that all political parties have to work together to make the country a viable and successful state.
