Industrial metals retreated across the board on Wednesday after the euro slumped to its weakest in four years against the US dollar, but prices came off the day's lows as investors scoured the market for bargains. In Shanghai, benchmark third month copper closed down 600 yuan at 53,130 yuan ($7,782) per tonne, off a low of 51,820 yuan, its weakest since early February.
Shanghai's third month zinc dropped 360 yuan to 15,340 yuan, recovering some ground after falling more than 5 percent earlier to a low of 14,830 yuan.
