A British family of three was gunned down by attackers inside a graveyard in Gujrat, apparently over a relative's divorce, police said Friday. The Britons of Pakistani origin were visiting the grave of a relative Thursday when gunmen sprayed them with bullets, said police official Ghulam Sarwar in the city of Gujrat. He identified the victims as Mohammad Yusuf, his daughter Tania and wife Pervez Bibi.
A female Pakistani relative also was killed. A gunmen died in an ensuing shootout, Sarwar said. The dispute apparently began after Yusuf's son who lives in Britain broke off his 12-year marriage with the daughter of one of the gunmen, Sarwar said. The British Foreign Office confirmed the deaths. ``We have offered consular assistance to the family and we are in touch with the local authorities,'' it said in a statement.
