The Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik, withdrew the two bail applications filed in the Accountability Court, saying that it was not the right time to file bail applications. Abdul Haq, Judge of the Accountability Court-IV, resumed hearing on Saturday and counsel for the Minister, Amjid Iqbal Qureshi, pleaded that his client desired to withdraw his bail applications.
The Minister had filed two bail applications to seek bail from the court to avoid any possible arrest, which were taken back due to unknown reasons. Amjid said that these kinds of applications "are not required to be submitted at this stage." So he was taking back the bail applications of Rehman Malik on his behalf.
The court allowed withdrawal of the bail applications, and adjourned hearing. After court proceedings, Amjid while talking to media said that he withdrew the bail applications on technical ground. "My client is innocent and there is nothing in the case. So I hope that my client would be released soon," he added. He said that he wanted speedy disposal of the cases lying pending in the courts.
