Oxford dictionary adds word ‘jugaad’ in their list
The world’s most trusted English language dictionary has officially added the slang word ‘jugaad’ in their long list of words.
The word was quite popular among the people and it was used way too often. The Oxford English dictionary (OED) has officially accepted the word ‘jugaad’ in their latest update which means, ‘a flexible approach to problem-solving that uses limited resources in an innovative way’.
Several most-commonly used words especially in India, such as ‘dadagiri’, ‘achcha’, ‘bapu’ and ‘surya namaskar’, are now part of the Oxford dictionary, the OED said in a statement.
The online version of the dictionary used the word in an example sentence as, ‘countries around the world are beginning to adopt jugaad in order to maximize resources’ and gave the origin of the word as Hindi.
It's a popular word, often used in Bollywood movies. Four years ago, some Bollywood stars gave the word a new meaning through its movie 'Fukrey' and now with 'Fukrey Returns,' they are all set to make a come back. 'Fukrey' cast rejoices as the word is now part of famous dictionary.
