Sharmeen Obaid breaks silence on her controversial ‘harassment tweet’
Filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has finally spoken up about her 'controversial tweets', days after she expressed outrage on Twitter against her sister's doctor for 'harassing' her by sending friend request to her sibling on Facebook, which sparked a debate among social media users.
Chinoy has been receiving extreme backlash on social media ever since she tweeted that her sister’s doctor at Aga Khan University Hospital 'harassed' her as he used her sister's personal information and sent her a friend request on Facebook. As a result, the hospital fired the doctor, which only sparked more debate.
Now, the two times Oscar-winning filmmaker has tweeted again, but this time giving a clarification about her infamous tweet that outraged many. In her recent tweet, she has said that the doctor was trusted with medical access to a very private examination in a ward, after which he chose to seek out her sister on social media and even commented on her pictures.

She added that she feels the behavior of the doctor was unethical and led to a woman feeling violated and harassed.

Chinoy was not only criticised by social media users for calling what the doctor did as 'harassment' but for also 'abusing her power' as a celebrity that led to the doctor's termination. Some Pakistanis came up with different ideas to denounce her act by making Facebook pages and events to sent friend requests to Chinoy.
