Honourary Consul General of Mozambique, Khalid Tawab has urged the business communities of Pakistan and Mozambique to boost bilateral trade in the fields of energy, garments and human resource development. Talking to newsmen on Friday, he emphasised that many areas of trade could be exploited by both the countries to yield favourable results.
Tawab said that Mozambique is importing many items to meet its requirements and Pakistan can explore those areas for trade. Citing an example, he said that Mozambique is importing rice in huge quantity and Pakistan has the commodity in abundance, therefore they can export rice to Mozambique. He also said that trading could well be done in other areas as well.
Replying to a question, he said that he would be taking a delegation of businessmen from Pakistan to Mozambique in order to survey markets there and ascertain demands for Pakistani products. He also urged the government of Pakistan to establish an embassy in Mozambique to facilitate traders and visitors. Establishment of Pakistan's embassy would help business community in conducting trade and investment in a big way.
Referring to investment opportunities in Mozambique, Tawab said that the country offers great opportunities for investments in various sectors and Pakistan can benefit from them, and added that Pakistani companies should set up garment units in Mozambique to have desired results. He said that Mozambique is a big market and Pakistan's business community should make a move quickly to outpace competitors otherwise it would be difficult for them to penetrate the markets there.
