Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that government is attaching top priority to the provision of basic amenities to the masses through implementation of various mega projects and development schemes and allocation of record development funds of Rs 193 billion for this purpose under Annual Development Programme (ADP) is a proof of this fact.
He directed that speedy completion of ongoing development schemes and mega projects in Murree, which is an important tourist resort of the country, should be ensured and no compromise should be made on the standard of construction. He also issued instructions for the completion of beautification and renovation projects, construction of roads, parks, a modern hospital and parking plaza at Jhika Gali expeditiously so that maximum facilities could be made available to the visitors during the season.
This was revealed in information of DGPR received here on Sunday. The Chief Minister was addressing a briefing/meeting after inspection of under-construction parking plaza at Jhika Gali and Jhika Gali to Bhurban Road during the day.
Members National Assembly Muhammad Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Advisor to Chief Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, PML-N leader Raja Atique Sarwar, Director General Frontier Works Organisation General Najeebullah Malik, Secretary Communication & Works Major Muhammad Azam (Retd), Secretary Tourism Amir Ashraf Khawaja, Secretary Forests Babar Hassan Barwana, Secretary Health Fawad Hasan Fawad, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Zahid Saeed, District Co-ordination Officer Amdadullah Bosal, Sheikh Ansar and officers of FWO and other departments concerned were present. The Chief Minister said that a high standard of construction work of the parking plaza in Murree should be ensured at any cost.
He also inspected the under-construction parking plaza and directed the authorities concerned to ensure early completion of the project. He directed the firm constructing the plaza to pay special attention to the strength of the foundation and take all possible measures to check possible land sliding around the parking plaza. The Chief Minister directed Secretary Health Punjab to ensure that construction work of the modern hospital for the people of Murree was started before July 31st. He also issued instructions for expediting carpeting of Jhika Gali to Bhurban road and directed FWO authorities to ensure completion of the carpeting work and reinforcement of the retaining walls and sides of the road before the end of the current season.
The Chief Minister said that he was trying to provide all necessary facilities to the residents and visitors to Murree and the government would take all possible steps for the beautification and provision of maximum facilities in this important tourist resort of the country. He said that while undertaking the proposed ropeway train system or rotating cable car in Murree, it should be ensured that the system should be closest to the parking plaza so that the visitors could benefit from this facility. He took notice of the slow pace of renovation work and implementation of other development projects and directed authorities concerned to take immediate steps to accelerate the development work. He said that delay or negligence in the construction of digital library, parking plazas, modern hospital and other projects in Murree would not be tolerated.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Zahid Saeed, Secretary Tourism Amir Asharf Khawaja and FWO authorities informed the Chief Minister that repair and reconstruction work of all roads under the control of Tehsil Municipal Administration Murree has been completed while improvement and beautification work of PIA Park, Bagh Saheedan and repair and carpeting of main Murree Road was in progress. It was informed that repair and construction of Jhika Gali to Bhurban road would be completed before Eid-ul-Fitr. The Chief Minister was also given a detailed briefing regarding construction of parking plaza, beautification of Murree and the proposed project of train and rotating cable car in Murree.
