Bangladesh has ruled out changing the name of the famous Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in Dhaka, named after the late wife of the seventh Prime Minister of Pakistan Feroz Khan Noon. The Awami League government has no plan or intention whatsoever to change the name of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad said in Dhaka.
Azad told newsmen that a vested quarter spread rumour in social network Facebook that the government is going to change the name of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College to Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib School and College, after the name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's mother.
"It is totally baseless, fabricated and motivated," he said. He said the government would take stern action against the vested quarter engaged in spreading such canards. He urged the Facebook administrator to ban the accounts of those who are spreading the rumours.
Begum Viqar-un-Nisa Noon was the wife of the 7th Prime Minister of Pakistan, Feroz Khan Noon. By profession, she was a social worker. She was an Austrian by birth and her birth name was Victoria. She married Sir Feroz Khan Noon in 1945. She also participated in Pakistan Movement.
