At least five more political activists, belonging to various political parties, were killed in the city. The activists belong to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqeqi (MQM-H) and Punjabi Pakhtoon Itehad (PPI). According to reports, one activist each of MQM and MQM-H, two of them from PPI and the younger brother of Razzak Commando were targeted and killed on Tuesday.
Tension grips some parts of Malir, Shah Faisal Town and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Some unknown armed men forcibly closed shops in these areas to mourn the death of their colleagues and closed the roads for vehicular traffic for hours. SSP Shah Faisal Town Tanvir Alam Odho told Business Recorder that Dr Muhammad Irfan, 40, son of Ghulam Sindhani, member, Muttahida Organising Committee (MOC) UC-VII, Shah Faisal Sector, was sitting in his clinic namely Shahab Clinic when two armed men entered the shop and opened fire on him.
He was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he succumbed to his bullet wounds. Tension gripped Millat Town, Shamsi Society, Afshan Town, Shah Faisal Town and some parts of Malir City to condemn his killing.
He said the second incident of targeted killing took place near Jauhar Mor in Shara-e-Faisal police limits where some armed pillion riders opened straight fire on a car. Resultantly, a man on driving seat died instantly while his friend was shifted to hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his bullet wounds.
Amjad, 30, son of Ashiq Hussain, who was said to be president PPI Youth-Circle, and his friend Fayyaz alias Kala, 30, son of Ibrahim were travelling in a car bearing number FAD-815 when two armed motorcyclists appeared on the scene and shot multiple straight bullets on them.
In another incident, an ex-police constable and the activist of MQM-H was killed by unknown armed pillion riders outside his home within Orangi Town police. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where doctors declared him dead. Abdul Majeed Abbas, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Orangi Town said Shahbaz, 40, son of Hafeez was killed by armed bike riders when he was standing outside his home.
The body of Razzak Commando's younger brother, who was kidnapped along with his two nephews on July 12, was recovered from a gunny bag at Mehboob Shah Road within the jurisdiction of Eidgah police. Meanwhile, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has condemned the killing of Dr Muhammad Irfan, member, Muttahida Organising Committee (MOC) UC-VII, Shah Faisal Sector.
