"Kashmir Martyrs Day" was observed throughout Sialkot and Narowal districts by refugees belonging to occupied Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday. The daylong programmes started with special prayers for the solidarity, unity and prosperity of the country as well as for the early liberation of the occupied valley. Quran Khuwani for martyrs and special meetings were held for commemorating Kashmiri Martyrs of 1931 who were shot dead by Dogra rulers outside occupied Srinagar jail.
Addressing the meetings, the refugees urged upon all the peace loving nations and United Nations to take immediate steps for halting barbarism and killings in the valley. On this day, Kashmiris strongly criticised the double standard of big powers, champions of human rights and United Nations for not resolving the 60-year old Kashmir issue lying on its agenda. They said United Nations is only watching big powers fulfil their agenda and has chosen to remain silent over the violation of its own charter of human rights in held Kashmir.
They pointed that the killing of youths and abduction of women has become a matter of daily routine in the held state, but has remained unnoticed by United Nations and champions of human rights. World leaders have focused attention on the burning Kashmir issue but Indian troops have intensified killing of innocent Kashmiris, they maintained.
They said on one hand, Pakistan government has adopted a flexible attitude for fruitful and durable outcome of their differences with India. On the other hand, Indian government is hell bent on its old practice of not resolving Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of Kashmiris and in accordance with the UN resolutions.
Expressing his views, prominent leader of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Ejaz Ahmad Sheikh called upon Indian Prime Minister to announce stoppage of growing homicide of innocent Kashmiris in the held state. Senior Leader of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Sheikh Muhammad Saleem condemned the brutal activities of Indian forces and urged upon the peace loving nations to come forward and play their role in stopping the genocide of innocent Kashmiris in the held valley.
While addressing a meeting, District President All Jammu and Kashmiris Muslim Conference Hafiz Muhammad Raza said Kashmiris have initiated the movement with the aim of liberating their motherland from Indian yoke. He said the liberation movement has now reached at its peak and it could not be crushed by dint of any force and barbarism.
