All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Punjab has established branch office of the Association in Faisalabad with Omar Nazar Shah, as first-ever Convenor. Decision to this effect was taken in Zonal Management Committee (ZMC) of APTMA Punjab held under the chairmanship of Gohar Ejaz the other day.
It may be noted that it was a longstanding demand of APTMA Punjab members from Faisalabad that APTMA Punjab should extend its presence in their city, commonly known as Manchester of Pakistan. Chairman APTMA Punjab Gohar Ejaz said membership of APTMA Punjab Region has increased manifold. He said spinning and weaving industry is mostly located in clusters like Faisalabad, Multan, Lahore, Mango Raiwind Road and Sheikhupura.
Gohar further added that complicated issues involving various stakeholders in one shape or the other are creeping up day by day. There are 54 units in Faisalabad Region and the management of APTMA Punjab Region is empowered under the bye-rule 3 of the Bye Rules of APTMA Punjab to open branch offices in the Punjab Region.
According to him, heavy presence of ancillary industry in Faisalabad Region is another reason behind the decision, as there is an urgent need of close liaison with ancillary industry on common issues in the larger interest of textile industry as a whole. In addition, he said, the opening up of APTMA branch in Faisalabad would also facilitate in resolving onsite issues of APTMA Faisalabad members.
Meanwhile, the APTMA Faisalabad members have appreciated the APTMA ZMC Punjab decision and expressed the hope that opening up of APTMA branch in Faisalabad would streamline day to day issues and problems of spinning and weaving units in textile city of Pakistan. Further, they said, it would also boost up the confidence of APTMA Faisalabad members to work in the larger interest of the textile industry and national economy.
