"The skilled workforce is the great national asset and the present government trying hard to empower the youth to acquire quality and technical education to cater the demand of local and international requirements." This was stated by Adnan A Khwaja Chairman NAVTEC (National Vocational & Technical Education) while distributing the Certificates among the trainees at Karachi Shipyard and Institute of Technology on Wednesday.
He said that the National Skills Strategy a pilot project of five years is designed to train the youth and creating a market oriented manpower, which will meet the country's industrial demand as well as in the foreign especially, the Middle East counties that will pave the way for the economic growth and social sector development.
Highlighting the poverty in the country he said that the NAVTEC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Benazir Income Support Programme to train the youths across the country which will help to alleviate poverty and unemployment from the country and key to an effective strategy for progress and development. At least 1,00000 youths have been trained and 2,00000 are still under training that is very positive outcome.
On the directives of the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani The NAVTEC has successfully achieved its goals for Human Resource Development that is essentially required in this age of internet and information technology. On the occasion Vice Admiral Rao Iftikhar Ahmad Managing Director Karachi Shipyard, Lieutenant Commander Moula Madad, Ms Talat Waseem Regional Director NAVTEC and Rao Tehsin Ali Khan Director Media were present.-PR
