Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that he would visit India only for meaningful and result-oriented talks. "I will not visit India just for the sake of a visit," said Qureshi here on Saturday while addressing a joint news conference with Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, the first woman chairperson of Conservative Party.
Qureshi said that his Indian counterpart S M Krishna came to Pakistan for talks with a limited mandate. We wanted a meaningful dialogue on all the issues between the two countries, he said making it clear that talks would not be held on the agenda unilaterally set by India.
He said that Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh wanted to improve relations between the two countries, but extremists in India were hindering the press. Sayeeda Warsi said that Britain will continue providing support to Pakistan in war against terrorism.
"Britain is a good friend of Pakistan", she said, adding that people-to-people contacts will further improve ties between the two countries. The British government would continue co-operation with Pakistan as relationship between the two countries "goes beyond routine". She expressed the hope that she would come up to the expectation of the people of both the countries. She said there is a need to increase people-to-people contacts between the two countries. She has been receiving congratulations from Pakistan since the recent elections in Britain.
