Single gunman kills 17 in Mexico party slaughter

An attacker armed with a machine gun mowed down party-goers in a pre-dawn attack outside the northern Mexican city of Torreon Sunday, leaving at least 17 people dead, police and officials said.
The attacker, described as a "heavily armed commando," wounded 10 others as he sprayed bullets through a recreation center in Coahuila state, near Mexico's northern border with the United States, they said.
