A weeklong cleanliness campaign was kicked off at Hyder Chowk of Hyderabad to keep the city clean under the theme "My Hyderabad". The campaign was inaugurated by Sindh Minister for Information Technology Raza Haroon, Minister for Rural Development Zubair Ahmed, MNA Tayab Hussain, and Sallahuddin, MPA, Muhammad Adil, Sohail Ahmed, Zubair Ahmed along with district administrator Hyderabad, Aftab Ahmed Khatri by sweeping and disposing off garbage at Hyder Chowk.
Talking with media after launching the ceremony, Raza Haroon said the main purpose was to remove all sorts of garbage and encroachment from the streets to avoid its misuse for sabotage activities. He said the exercise would provide secure atmosphere at one hand, while ensuring better environmental atmosphere on the other.
He said the campaign would also establish close co-ordination between the public representatives and civil society. Haroon said that his party (MQM) always represented and served the poor and oppressed people, adding they would not leave the people alone in difficult times. He appealed to the people to co-operate with the government to making the campaign a success.
