The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday urged the government to make the Afghan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) public, as government's backtracking on signing of agreement has complicated the issue to the extent that it is creating an embarrassing situation for the Ministry of Commerce.
Acting President LCCI, Ijaz A Mumtaz in a statement said the LCCI wanted to give its feedback on the agreement the same day but could not do so because of the unavailability of the document that was signed by the Commerce Ministers of Pakistan and Afghanistan in presence of Prime Minister Gilani, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke.
The Acting President LCCI said the LCCI is a very responsible institution and does not believe in issuing statements for the sake of criticism only. Thus the government must make the APTTA public in larger interests of the business community, he maintained.
