District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Jamshoro Samiuddin Siddiqui has said the district government Jamshoro has said Sindh Governor, Dr Ishratul Ebad would inaugurate the 758th annual urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar on July 31. Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah will be the chief guest at its concluding ceremony on August 2, 2010 at Sehwan Sharif.
He said that the district government Jamshoro has undertaken all foolproof security measures to maintain law and order and provide all possible facilities to the devotees during the 3-days Annual Urs Celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA). He was briefing the Journalists at S.I.D. Media Forum at Regional Information Office Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The DCO said that keeping in view the present circumstance, the disaster management plan has been prepared by district government Jamshoro to meet any eventuality during the celebrations. He said that under this plan the whole Sehwan city has been divided into six zones where 3,000 police personnel under the supervision of senior police officers would be deployed. Besides 40 close circuit cameras and intelligence network would also be established to keep close watch on miscreants.
The DCO further said that strict security measures would be taken especially at the Dargah where first time in history walkthrough gates and close circuit cameras would be installed in addition to deployment of intelligence personnel. He said that a control room would be established to monitor the security arrangements round the clock. The DCO said twelve fire brigade vehicles and twelve truck/buses would be made available to meet any eventuality and to move the manpower from disturbed place immediately.
He said that Taluka Hospital Sehwan Sharif has been well equipped with availability of all life saving drugs to provide prompt medical treatment to the victims in case of any emergency. In addition to that 15 fixed medical camps and mobile ambulances have been arranged at Sehwan Sharif and on the routes towards Sehwan Sharif. He said that efforts would be made to avoid any sort of incident but in case of any causality, the district government would bear transportation expensive of the dead body to his/her destination. He said that swimming in canals would be made prohibited under section 144 Cr. PC besides the arrangements of divers and boats would be made available for rescue operation, if needed.
In order to control reckless driving or traffic violation, the Indus Highway would be handed over to motorway police for three days of annual urs celebrations and transporters would be advised not to allow drivers to work more than 12 hours and do not allow passengers to use top roof of their vehicles. He said that different parking lots are being developed to segregate the parking of heavy and light traffic and to keep the system under control in Sehwan city.
He said that HESCO authority has been asked to exempt the Sehwan Sharif from loadshedding in addition to two (30 K.V) generators each from the district government Jamshoro and Taluka Municipal Administration (TMA) Sehwan Sharif would be kept in ready position to restore the power supply in case of failure of power due to any technical fault in HESCO Power Supply. He said that the arrangements for efficient drainage and water supply during the celebrations have been made by the TMA Sehwan Sharif. He said that dances, social vulgarity and gambling would not be allowed in Sehwan Sharif.
Responding to a question, the DCO Jamshoro said that a PC-I for the construction work of Mazar Sharif development scheme Phase-III has been completed and submitted at its estimated cost of Rs 1.75 billion to the Sindh government and added that hopefully it is approved from the competent forum. He said that under this scheme Shia-Sunni mosques, huge park, land acquisition and development of parking lots from different ends have been proposed. He said that the scheme for repair work for sealing the seepage from tomb has been approved at a cost of Rs 48.00 million and the work on this scheme was in progress.
