The Apex Policy Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in its 24th meeting held under the chairmanship of Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani at Governor's House, Peshawar while taking periodical review of the over all law and order situation in the province and FATA, has expressed satisfaction both over the pace of progress towards normalisation and ensuring security and safety of the peace loving people.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister, Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Corps Commander Peshawar, Lieutenant General Asif Yasin Malik and Chief Secretary, Javed Iqbal whereas the provincial heads of law enforcement agencies and the commissioners of Kohat and Peshawar divisions briefed the participants about the prevailing situation in the areas of their jurisdictions. The Additional Chief Secretary, FATA; Habibullah Khan also attended the meeting.
The meeting, however, took strong exception of the sporadic incidents of terrorism in certain parts of Malakand Division and FATA during the recent past especially the continued sectarian based violence ridden situation in Kurram Agency and the participants were briefed about the ground realities as well as the state of deployment and alertness of the law enforcement agencies to cope with any unforeseen incident in this respect.
Re-affirming the firm commitment of the government to ensure safety and security of peace loving people at every cost, the meeting also reviewed the ongoing measures to bring the culprits involved in the heinous crimes to justice and ensure rapid normalisation in the respective areas.
The security situation in the bordering areas of the province, situated along FATA especially the frontier regions also came under discussion and necessary initiatives were decided to further streamline the existing security and administrative mechanisms in this respect. Meanwhile, the meeting was also briefed about the pace of progress on the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation projects in the militancy and terrorism hit areas as well as the future planning in this respect.
