Graft hearing against Sharif family adjourned till November 7

The accountability court adjourned the hearing till November 7 against deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (retd) Safdar against the three references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

On Friday, Sharif, Maryam and Captain (retd) Safdar appeared together before the court for the first time since they had been indicted by the court on October 19.

The hearing was adjourned after Islamabad High Court (IHC) passed an order regarding the clubbing of three references against the Sharif family was not received by the court.

As the hearing began, Sharif's lawyer Khawaja Haris filed a new application to Judge Mohammad Bashir to club the three references into one, local media reported. However, the judge did not pass any verdict as they had not viewed the IHC’s order in detail. After half an hour, when the court did not receive the IHC’s order, the hearing was adjourned to November 7.

On Thursday, Haris had approached IHC requesting to club the three references together. The IHC had accepted his application and had requested the accountability court to submit a long order explaining the legal reasons why the three references could not be clubbed together.
