KARACHI: The people have rejected the thinking and policies of Mumtaz Ali Bhutto. This was stated by a leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Ms. Sharmila Faruqui, here on Wednesday.
She described Mumtaz Bhutto as a `spent force' and that even the people of his constituency in Larkana have rejected him.
Sharmila Faruqui was of the view that after the martyrdom of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the character of Mumtaz Bhutto had remained `suspicious'.
She said that the people are aware as to what language Mumtaz Bhutto had been using about Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and `Madar-i-Jamhoriat' late Begum Nusrat Bhutto.
Sharmila Faruqui recalled that in the aftermath of martyrdom of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto when there was a fear of disintegration of Pakistan, it was the prudence and sagacity of Co- Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) President Asif Ali Zardari who at that time had raised the slogan of Pakistan `Khapay' for ensuring the integrity of the country.
She said that when the province of Sindh faced the ravages of floods due to heavy rains, Mumtaz Bhutto was visible nowhere.
Sharmila Faruqui said that the federal government and the government of Sindh did every thing possible for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the affectees.
She recalled that when Mumtaz Bhutto was interim chief minister of Sindh in the year 1997 he had signed the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award which caused a loss of Rs one trillion to the province of Sindh.
She said that when the present democratic PPP-led government signed the NFC award it benefitted Sindh to the tune of billions of rupees. Sindh benefitted by Rs 25 billion under the head of GST only which was a due right of the people of Sindh.
Sharmila Faruqi said that the PPP Government adopted a clear stand against terrorism which was appreciated the world over.
She said that in accordance with the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, a very successful operation was launched in Swat and the flag of Pakistan was hoisted there.
She said that through the 18th amendment President Asif Ali Zardari also strengthened the Parliament by transferring his powers to the Parliament.
