The devastation's caused by the torrential rains and flash floods is wide spread and the people from all walks of life must step forward for the relief and rehabilitation of their affected brethren, Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch, said here on Wednesday.
He was addressing JI workers and Al-Khidmat Foundation volunteers at the relief camps set up by the JI and its sister bodies to collect donations for the flood hit people in different parts of the Punjab capital. According to the spokesperson Liaquat Baloch said that several districts in Khyber Pakhtoon Kwah and the Punjab had been wrecked by the floods and around two thousand people were feared dead.
The media, he said, was faithfully portraying the flood losses and damage but the relief activity from the government was poor. On the other hand, the religious parties' workers were doing much better. He said there was no justification for President Zardari's visit to UK at this critical hour especially, in view of the British Premier's disparaging remarks against Pakistan. He also deplored the target killings going on in Karachi and said the murder of 55 people after the death of MQM leader Haider Raza was a matter of deep concern.
Liaquat Baloch said that US, India and Israel trio were enemies of Pakistan and were trying to disturb peace in this country. JI Lahore chief Amirul Azeem and city chief of the Al-Khidmat, Ahmed Jamil Rashid accompanied him.
