Pakistan Railways (PR) has to face losses of Rs 5 millions as railways tracks have washed out in flood hit areas of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KP), Punjab and Balochistan provinces. The sources in the PR said that recent flood and rainy water has badly damaged railway track in KP province and railway traffic has been started partly after the rehabilitation of tracks within one week span.
The sources further said that the rehabilitation of Railways tracks is being carried out on the warfooted basis. In Punjab province Khushab and Mari Indus section also affected where floodwater was still standing at the railway tracks. Kot Addu and Kundia sections also damaged by flood water of Indus River. The floodwater has completely washed out the railway track between Kot Addu and Daira Din Penah.
The train services both from up and down sides from Multan to Kod Addu and Rawalpindi to Kot Addu remained non-operational from the last three days. He also told that in Balochistan the railway track between Sibi and Jaccababad sections, were badly affected by heavy rains and its rehabilitation would be completed soon.
Railway sources informed that due to damaged tracks passengers' trains including Mari Indus Express, Mehr Express, Khushal Khan Khatak Express and Thal Passengers were not operational for their destination from last three days. Due to suspension of trains service passengers are travelling by roads in Kot Addu.
