Pakistan Meteorological Department on Thursday forecast more monsoon rains for upper and central parts of the country on Friday/Saturday. According to the met office, a fresh well-marked monsoon low-pressure area has developed over North Bay of Bengal. Under the influence of this weather system, more monsoon currents would start to penetrate in upper parts of the country from Saturday while the intensity of rainfall is likely to increase.
In Punjab, scattered rain/thundershowers (heavy at times) is expected in D. G. Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions on Friday, becoming widespread from Saturday. Due to current wet spell, further flash flooding is expected in the hill torrents of D.G Khan and Rajanpur areas.
In Khyber-Pakhtonkhwa, scattered rain/thundershowers with few heavy falls are expected over D.I Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Peshawar, Hazara, Mardan and Malakand divisions on Friday, becoming widespread from Saturday. Due to these rains, further flash flooding is expected in the local rivers/nullahs of the province during the period.
In Sindh, isolated rain/thundershowers are expected Sukkar and Larkana divisions on Friday, becoming scattered over Lower Sindh and isolated over upper Sindh on Saturday. Rain/thundershowers are also expected in Karachi on Friday night.
Rain/thundershowers (with isolated heavy falls) are expected in north-eastern parts of Balochistan (Zhob, Barkhan, Jhalmagsi, Kohlu, Naseerabad and Sibbi Districts) from Friday to Sunday. Due to current wet spell, flash flooding is expected in the local rivers/nullahs of the province during the period.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, scattered rain/thundershowers (heavy at times) are expected from Friday to Sunday. Heavy rainfall on Saturday/Sunday may cause flash flooding in local rivers. Also, scattered rains are expected over Gilgit-Baltistan from Friday to Sunday.
