All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) Punjab has welcomed the Sui Northern Gas Company Ltd (SNGPL) decision for revising gas holiday schedule for textile industry, curtailing it to two days from earlier proposed five days. The Managing Committee of APTMA Punjab appreciated the MD SNGPL A. Rashid Lone for ensuring equitable sharing of burden of gas load management programme on all respective sectors.
Also, the Committee lauded the efforts made by Chairman APTMA Punjab, Gohar Ejaz and Convenor Energy Committee, Shahzad Ali Khan for representing energy security concerns of textile industry. Both Chairman APTMA Punjab and Convenor Energy Committee had called on MD SNGPL seeking an equitable sharing of gas load management programme by respective sectors and urged to revise the burden of gas curtailment for the textile industry.
Further, they briefed MD SNGPL on the impact of five days gas curtailment due to Annual Turn Around (ATA) of Sawan & Manzalai Gas fields, causing severe production losses due to closure of mills during the period. Accordingly, the MD SNGPL revised and curtailed gas load shedding for textile industry to two days from five days.
Meanwhile, Gohar Ejaz, Chairman APTMA Punjab has appreciated the decision of SNGPL for not enforcing five days gas shutdown schedule. However, he urged the government to ensure smooth & trouble free supply of gas/energy to the textile industry in the larger interest of industry and exports.
